Summary:
Rational ClearQuest is the IBM Rational Suite tool for automating change request management (CRM) processes. It allows for the logging, tracking, assignment and disposition of change requests (CR) among multiple users and groups of users. ClearQuest is not an out of the box CRM solution but has a number of standard schemas provided that allows it to be deployed quickly in most standard CRM situations. Bug and defect tracking (for the purposes of this outline) are considered to be special cases of CRM.This course is an introduction to ClearQuest for those that have had no prior experience with the tool or minimal experience with CRM processes. The workshop starts with an overview of the basics of change management practices in order to provide a conceptual framework for understanding how ClearQuest is used effectively in the workplace. Students are then led by the instructor though a hands on exploration of the features and interfaces of ClearQuest. The course concludes with a series of challenge exercises designed to build the student's familiarity and competence with ClearQuest and how it is used in typical situations they would normally encounter in their work environment.
